This inspirational female drag racing pioneer is battling her toughest race, but she has demonstrated that she is a winner.
Shirley Muldowney, often known as the first lady of drag racing and the first woman to be licensed by the National Hot Rod Association, was the first woman to win a Top Fuel national championship. She won NHRA Top Fuel championship in 1977, 1980, and 1982, and became the first person to win two and three Top Fuel titles.

This inspirational lady to both men and women not only in drag racing, is now in her own fight with Stage II lung cancer. She is also currently undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from one of her lungs.
