68-year old Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi has been the leader of Libya since a military coup back in 1969, making him one of the longest serving leaders in history. The politician is now making headlines not only for recent protests against his leadership, but also for his unusual looks and his voluptuous Ukrainian nurse, Galyna Kolotnytska.
Many suspect that he has had too much plastic surgery, leading to his bizarre appearance. Some have even gone so far as to compare the leader of Libya to actor Mickey Rourke, whose notoriously disfigured face is the result of too many facelifts.
Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer says, “Libyan dictator Muammar al-Gaddafi has very loose hanging skin on his neck, but not as much in his mid to lower face. Normally the rate of skin laxity is the same throughout a person’s face. It could be possible that he had a conservative facelift. His eyes and neck both show significantly more aging than his mid face.”
Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California, “It is unlikely Muammar al-Gaddafi had a facelift performed. He does not appear to have had any other plastic surgery performed to his face, and his overall appearance is natural.”
As for his favorite nurse Galyna Kolotnytska, who follows him on all his trip, she is described as a “voluptuous blonde,” according to a leaked memo by WikiLeaks. The cable added: “A Ukrainian political officer recently confirmed that the Ukrainian nurses ‘travel everywhere with the Leader’.”
Col Gaddafi sent a private jet to ferry his nurse from Libya to Portugal to meet him when she was delayed by a late visa application.
