This 8-year old girl is already a breast cancer survivor, and one of the youngest to have a rare form of breast cancer. But she is not giving up her dreams.
Despite 8-year old Chrissy Turner being the youngest person ever to be diagnosed with an extremely rare form of breast cancer called secretory breast carcinoma, and has had a mastectomy that removed her right breast, she still dreams of becoming a dragon rider.
Secretory breast carcinoma is a slow growing breast cancer which is actually more common in younger patients, and was in fact originally described as juvenile breast cancer. It accounts for less than 1% of all breast cancers, and while it may occur at virtually all age ranges, it typically occurs in young adults.
Chrissy’s family is not immune to cancer, in fact her dad, Troy Turner is a Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer survivor, and her mom Annette Turner is a cervical cancer survivor.
This family has been through a lot, but they have shown they can fight and win the battle with cancer and Chrissy will continue to win her battle with cancer too.
