Dentist Prosthodontist
Prosthodontists specialize in advanced dental restorative treatments, from veneers, crowns, and dentures to dental implants and full-mouth reconstruction. Prosthodontists must complete an additional three to four years of postgraduate training following their Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) before they can become certified through the American Board of Prosthodontics.
While prosthodontists can help to restore natural teeth, they are most frequently called upon to replace missing teeth with natural-looking artificial substitutes known as prostheses or restorations. In addition to their esthetic and restorative work, prosthodontists can also provide treatment for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder.
