Space shuttle Endeavor just took off a few hours ago today, and I heard it had a urine recycler on board. Basically the goal is to eventually recycle the astronauts urine and use it as drinking water. Essentially, the astronauts will be drinking their own urine, albeit recycled. I wonder if there are any health issues with that?
Wow! That will be interesting. Even though it may not harm me health wise, I guess thinking about drinking my own or other people's urine will gross me out regardless of its quality as a drinking water source.
