Cardiology is a subspecialty certification by the Board of Internal Medicine. A cardiologist is a physician who is certified to treat problems of the cardiovascular system and the heart, arteries, and veins. Cardiologists prevent, diagnose and treat conditions of the heart, blood vessels and circulation system in adult patients.  Manages complex cardiac conditions such as heart attacks and abnormal heartbeat rhythms, and often performs diagnostic procedures like cardiac catheterization.
