With President Obama’s last minute campaign to drum up support among key members of his Democratic Congressional party and town hall meetings, it is clear that the healthcare reform bill is in its homestretch. Being that it will definitely be a close vote, it is not clear who will reach the finish line first. Will the Republicans deal a big blow to President Obama’s dream of a reformed healthcare system, or will his own party rise to the challenge and back their leader?

That questions is yet to be answered, but we may know by the end of this week. It seems to me that the Democratic party are not as united as the Republican party, who until now has yet to have any defections. Don’t expect any defections from the Republican party and President Obama needs to wield a big stick at the so called “Blue Dog” Democrats. Simply put, he needs to say, “if you don’t vote for my healthcare reform bill, I will see to it that you don’t get re-elected.” That will put the fire on the Blue Dog Democrats behind.
