Patients who are not candidates for LAP-BAND System surgery may benefit from laparoscopic gastric sleeve resection, also called sleeve gastrectomy.
Some bariatric surgeons perform the sleeve gastrectomy weight loss surgery on the “super-obese,” a term applied to individuals weighing 500 pounds or more. Gastric sleeve surgery may also benefit patients afflicted with Crohn’s disease, osteoporosis or anemia.
