Martin Luther King Jr and Healthcare Reform

With today been Martin Luther King Jr Day, I often wonder what Martin Luther King Jr would have done regarding the debate over healthcare reform. We all know he was a champion of not only equal rights for African-Americans, but for the common man as well. I would think he would have seen the debate from a humanitarian perspective, and not on ideology and politics.

It is well documented that more African-Americans lack health insurance at a rate well above the national average, but besides that, he would have thought about poor whites, Hispanics, Asians, native Americans and others who lack basic health insurance. In my opinion he would have been colorblind and be the great civil rights leader that he was.
