Teddy Pendergrass Dies of Colon Cancer

Soul singer Teddy Pendergrass, died at age 59 on Wednesday after a long battle with colon cancer. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Pendergrass, who was paralyzed after a 1982 car accident, died in a Philly hospital eight months after undergoing colon cancer surgery and suffering through a difficult recovery.
Teddy Pendergrass was known for smash love ballads such as “Turn Off the Lights” and “Love TKO.” Colon cancer causes about 49,920 deaths (25,240 in men and 24,680 in women) in the United States according to the American Cancer Society. Also colon (also known as colorectal cancer) cancer is the second leading cause of death due to cancer for men and women combined. (Lung cancer is the first.)
