America: The New Roman Empire Imploding
When I see the outbursts over healthcare reform and the lies and fear mongering, it makes me realize that the United States as an empire, or rather the most powerful country on earth is imploding and just like the fall of the Roman Empire, we are falling not by an outside force but from within.
Commonsense and rational thinking has gone the way of irrational fear-led thinking. What is going on with people today? Even the ones that would be significantly helped by the new healthcare reform are crying foul? Are we a country of morons? It makes me think that our education system is showing by the irrational behavior we are currently exhibiting.

When you mandate insurance without any form of competition as in the public option, what gives? Which can only guarantee the insurance industry nothing less than giant windfall. As well as an added punitive excise tax for employers. Becoming more like a giant fail over time.
But does this fail belong to an America imploding in upon itself like the Roman empire? Or just politics as usual? With both parties selling out to big interests?
Well, perhaps,if you want to point the finger, point it at war. Because it a big business for America. With most of our budget going that direction one way or another. Leading us where? Perhaps to more borrowing for more wars. Till our economy is in shambles because the dollar isn’t worth anything? Or with the law of diminishing returns stepping in to destroy the will of people to work harder for less and less. Thus collapsing our consumer based society.
So, don’t have a crystal ball, but if the will of the people crumbles under economic hardship, who can say what will happen next.
