Patient Experience with Shands Hospital

It is great to get patient stories about their experience with a doctor or hospital, and it was nice to hear a successful outcome to a potential dangerous medical condition. Here is the patient story:

I had my first experience with Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. last Sept., when my son had surgery there. A highly skilled surgeon performed a very difficult laproscopic procedure on a tumor attached to his esophagus and laying on a large artery.  At first he was told there was no Dr. who could perform this surgery without opening the chest.  The surgery went well, there was no cancer and the recovery time was quick. All the doctors and nurses were very compassionate and caring. I just want to let people know what a great hospital Shands is and what a caring team of people who work there.
