I knew that Electronic Medical Records (EMR) adoption was on the rise, when the office manager of a physician I knew called me regarding their adoption and any advice I had. They wanted to get an electronic medical record system ASAP, and knowing him, I was wondering what was going on? I had mentioned it to him years ago, but the reason was always the cost and that it will “disrupt” their on-going processes. I guess the need to be more streamlined and the government’s push on EMR’s is finally taking hold. Maybe it is me, but I think wider adoption of electronic medical records is eminent. At the very least, the recently passed stimulus package and other incentives will get the giant EMR ball rolling.
