Diabetes in America Increases to 24 Million

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), reports that roughly 8 percent or 24 million Americans now have diabetes, an increase of about 3 million over two years. The good news is that the number of people unaware that they have diabetes fell from 30 percent to 25 percent. This is attributed to more awareness of diabetes testing.

I am wondering how many people are aware there was a huge surge in diagnosed cases after the recommended blood sugar reading numbers were changed. It used to be 120 fasting was OK (actually before that, it was 126), but when they lowered it to 110 and spread that in the news, millions more were diagnosed - leading to, guess what, a huge surge in sales on drugs for diabetes treatment.
Any connection? I believe so - just like sale of drugs went up when they lowered the acceptable blood pressure readings.
Is there a pattern here? Yup.
