Wow! I wonder why the drug is still being used:
I didn’t make this up, according to the Daily Mail and the BBC News, I quote: “A commonly used chemotherapy drug could be inflicting serious brain damage on cancer patients.”
That drug is said to be 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), and that “its damaging effects on the brain can be felt for years after treatment has ended.” The chemotherapy drug is commonly used to treat tumors of the breast, ovary, colon, stomach, skin, pancreas and bladder. Side effects of the drug includes memory loss, poor concentration and, in extreme cases, seizures, impaired vision and dementia. I don’t want to have a “chemo brain,” and so would you, if you had to take chemotherapy for your cancer treatment.
