This seems surprising, but according to researchers at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, their study suggests that for every diet soda you sip daily, your risk of becoming overweight can rise by 37 percent.
You might think that by counting the calories in soda, you were on the right track. However, research shows that artificial sweeteners in soda may interfere with your body’s ability to estimate how many calories you’ve ingested, so you eat more than you need.I always wonder why some people drink diet sodas and still can’t lose weight. You may be deceiving yourself if you think you are doing yourself a favor by drinking diet sodas. You may just be penny wise and pound foolish, because you will tack on the weight more quickly. I say drink water instead. You can’t go wrong with water.
