Malaria

The Seattle Biomedical Research Institute is collaborating with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative to accelerate malaria vaccine research by opening a new vaccine testing center in Seattle‘s south Lake Union neighborhood.

While malaria which is spread my mosquitoes may be largely non-existent in the U.S., it kills more than a million people each year, most of them children. Deaths doubled in Africa over the past 20 years due to resistance to existing drugs and insecticides.
