Stable or improved cardiovascular and pulmonary function can be attained by breast cancer patients still undergoing treatment or those who have completed treatment, by participating in an individualized exercise training program.

Dr. Carole M. Schneider, of the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, and colleagues wrote in the August 15th issue of Cancer, “advances in technology and the effectiveness of cancer treatments have significantly increased cancer survival rates. However, the impact of cancer therapy is not limited to cancer cells but also causes deleterious effects on healthy tissues that result in acute and chronic physiological and psychological negative side effects in cancer survivors.”
