Don’t Blame Schools For Childhood Obesity
Instead the home may be to blame:
A nationwide study done by researchers at Indiana University and Ohio State, found the rate of weight gain doubled in kindergarten and first-grade students during summer break compared with the months they were in school. As federal and state mandates call for more exercise, banning soda and eliminating junk food in schools, the findings reported in the April issue of the American Journal of Public Health shows otherwise.
