New Warning for Cancer Drug Rituxan
The strict requirements which were posted on the Food and Drug Administration’s website, required that Genentech and partner Biogen Idec must add a warning about patients with lupus to the cancer drug Rituxan’s packaging. The FDA warning was prompted by two patients with lupus, an autoimmune disease, who developed and died from a rare brain infection called PML, or progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.
