Are We Doing Enough to Combat the Bird Flu?
The U.S. Government should take notes:
The lethal H5N1 bird flu is slowly spreading to not only developing countries, but developed ones too. With a smaller world due to global trade, it is a matter of time before it becomes more of a problem in the United States. Japan and Nigeria have reported lethal cases of the virus, and outbreaks in birds and humans have been reported in China, Egypt, Russia, South Korea and Vietnam. Britain is the latest to jump into the bird flu outbreak, with its first ever confirmed case of the H5N1 virus. As scientists are struggling to combat the spread of the disease from jumping species and infecting humans, the sense of urgency cannot be greater.
