New study could help insomniacs get some much needed sleep.

According to a paper in the online issue of the Journal of Nature Medicine, blocking brain receptors for orexin, a blood peptide, promoted sleep in rats, dogs and people. Orexin-hypocretin is important in maintaining wakefulness, and if it could be blocked, might be able to induce sleep.
