As for the latest information on any clinical trials related to Polycythemia Vera or other Myeloproliferative Disorders, you can visit this website: http://www.clinicaltrialssearch.org/polycythemia_vera_clinical_trials.html. I don't know of any new treatments, but you may consult your hematologist for more info. I know some of the treatments and drugs may include phlebotomy, medications such as hydroxyurea or anagrelide, low dose aspirin, and antihistamines or H-2-receptor blockers for the itching.
